What is Academic Navigation?

At the University of Miami, your academic advisor is your Cane Navigator. Cane Navigators are your main point of contact throughout your undergraduate career, from orientation to graduation. They play a critical role in supporting you holistically, addressing not only your academic needs but also your personal and professional development through your undergraduate journey.

During the Add & Drop Periods

Due to the significant volume of student inquiries during this time of the semester, Cane Navigators provide students guidance on a drop-in basis only triaging the Fall 2026 semester schedule questions.

Appointment Availability

Cane Navigators will be available for academic advising beyond current schedule triaging beginning September 8th.

Our offices are open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
