Good to know: Exploring does not commit you to anything. Many students take a semester or two to decide. Just keep one date in mind: all majors, minors, and cognates should be declared by the time you reach 60 credits so you can finish your degree on time.

Attend Academic Exploration Week

A week of sessions where you can meet Cane Navigators from across campus, ask wquestions, and see what different programs are really like.

This is held every semester the week following the last day to drop a course without a W.

  • What draws me to this program? Is it the subject, the career it leads to, or something about my current major that is not working?
  • Do I understand what the program requires and the order I would need to take courses in?
  • How would this affect when I graduate?
  • How would htis affect my financial aid?
  • Have I talked this through with my Cane Navigator?

When You're Ready

If you decide you want to move forward, the process starts with a conversation with your Cane Navigator. What happens next depends on teh school or college and the specific major, and some majors require additional review, auditions, meetings, or documentation.

Your Cane Navigator will walk you through it, help you plan for the next term's registration, and initiate the paperwork with you.
