The Miami Academic Transfer Evaluation System (MATES) is the University of Miami's comprehensive tool for simplifying the transfer process and ensuring that students can seamlessly transition their credits to our institution. MATES is designed to assist both prospective and current students in understanding how their existing coursework aligns with our programs, ultimately empowering them to make informed decisions about their academic journey.
Changes of School/College and Major are initiated with a form from the student's school/college or academic department.
Transfer students are admitted on a rolling basis. Depending on when the application decision is released, students' timelines may differ, but there are a few steps that must be completed before course selection becomes available. Whether you’re transitioning into the University of Miami from a community college or 4-year institution, with previous military service or with a number of other unique experiences, the Orientation & Commuter Student Involvement department helps to acclimate transfer students through a variety of educational programs and services. All commuter and transfer students are encouraged to interact with this department to learn more about the programs and events that are in place for commuters and transfers during the year. Tau Sigma is a nationally recognized academic honor society designed specifically to "recognize and promote the academic excellence and involvement of transfer students. The Transfer Assistant Program is a peer mentorship program designed to assist first-year off-campus transfer students with their transition into the U. Every off-campus transfer student is assigned a TA during ’Cane Kickoff.
As part of the articulation agreement between Miami Dade Honors College and the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Miami, admitted students transferring from the MDC Honors College* will have the following benefits: *Limited to 300 spaces for the fall semester, 150 for the spring semester
Through the Department of Housing and Residential Life, students can access resources to help them identify the right location off-campus through rental listings and access a database of local realtors.
Veterans Services: The Veterans Services Certifying Officials are located in the Office of the University Registrar to assist veterans and dependents of veterans who are entitled to V.A. educational benefits. Veterans Resource Center: The Veterans Resource Center provides support and guidance to student veterans for their successful transition from military service to campus life and connects them and military-connected students to academic and other University resources through collaborative programs and engagement activities with campus partners and alumni.

Financial Assistance Resources Apply for Aid: The University of Miami is dedicated to maximizing our need-based financial aid awarding for federal aid-eligible transfer students, with the goal of meeting 100% of their demonstrated need. Applying for Aid as a Transfer Student Transfer Academic Scholarship: All transfer applicants are automatically considered for the President's scholarship, which is $15,000 annually, if you have a competitive cumulative GPA, which is typically 3.5 or higher at the time the application is reviewed by the Admission Committee.
